Poblet Iberic del Puig de la Nau (CAT)

The archaeological site of the Iberian Village of Puig de la Nau is few kilometres north of Benicarlò, in Catalunya. The site was occupied from the 7th to the 5th century BC and then abandoned.
The settlement was excavated from 1975 onwards. It was a fortified village with a wall and defensive towers. The houses were rectangular in the last phases and most of the material recovered helped to interpret the activities carried out in some of them. One fragment of attic pottery as well as Phoenician goods point to the sophisticated commerce which the inhabitants carried out. During special occasion, a local association provides theatrical guided tours in the village giving life to some of the houses which have been partially reconstructed. The local committee of Benicarlò provides guided tours during the week.
