Martin Baumeister

Martin Baumeister, a resident of Nuremberg, is an archaeologist with a broad range of scientific interests in the first millenium AD and the European Middle Ages. After studies in Classical, Pre- and Protohistoric Archaeology as well as Ancient History at the universities of Bonn and Würzburg, graduating with a PhD, he has pursued his calling as an excavator in Bavaria and the Rhineland, a lecturer with the University of Würzburg and a curator at the Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte in Berlin and the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg. Specializing in settlement, weaponry and clothing research, he has always been a supporter of a practical, experimental approach, with a long record of activities in reenactment and open-air museums.
